GILLETTE ADVERTISEMENT

This is a fictional poster design for the brand Gillette. Gillette is a blades and razor company that leads above all brands in its category. This large brand serves more than 800 million people. The core of the brand is their tagline, “The Best a Man Can Get”.

In 2018, they released a challenge on Zooppa to give meaning back to Gillette’s promise. Gillette was reaching Gen X, but was struggling to make new life long customers. They wanted to cater this new idea to the younger generation of men.

The objective was to create a print ad to reinforce the meaning of Gillette’s promise “The Best a Man Can Get” and make it meaningful to the younger generation.

POSTER

Gillette’s main color with branding is a dark navy blue. For their slogan in the bottom right corner to contrast with the rest of the poster, I chose a bright orange and yellow gradient as the background. Within this gradient, there is the Gillette razor and its shadow casting behind. Because Gillette wanted to reintroduce their brand as “The Best a Man Can Get”, I wanted to subtly show that their razors have always cased a shadow of first place.

 

IN USE

This poster will be used to reach millennial men on their way to work in larger cities. To contrast the grey and neutral colors that are found in city streets, I will be utilizing the vibrant background. These colors will grab the viewers attention while they wait for the bus or cross a street. This poster will be backlit to provide a more lively look.
